Finding balance is perhaps our most important job in life. Finding equilibrium with multiple and different activities is a perfect and very attainable way to discover this balance. When one goes into the wilderness to enjoy hiking and yoga, he or she will find that the combination both expands and deepens yoga practice focus and strengthens your body and mind to better explore the beauty of the mountains. Yoga does not remove us from the reality or responsibilities of everyday life but rather places our feet firmly and resolutely in the practical ground of experience.

More Info

This is more than just a hiking trip; this is a unique experience of hiking, camping, and yoga in the most tranquil of locations. Your journey will take you down ancient trade routes, through traditional villages and to the top of the highest peak in Kosovo; not to mention your own spiritual journey. On your way, you’ll admire natures’ glacial lakes, witness breathtaking sunsets and enjoy local traditional food as you dine with new friends.

Day one: Travel to Gjakova

2 hours drive

From Kosovo’s capital city, Prishtina or airport, you’ll be transferred to the town of Gjakova. When you arrive, you’ll be taken to the Gjakova Hostel where you will spend your first evening enjoying a traditional dinner of grilled meats, fresh vegetables and homemade bread, whilst you get to know your guides.

Day two: Hiking and Yoga

30 min drive / 5 hours hiking

After breakfast you’ll take the short drive to the village of Junik where your hike into the Dinaric Alps begins. You’ll make your way to your overnight camping spot by the glacial lake beneath Gjeravica Peak. Take a moment to admire the stunning views that surround you and appreciate the peace of the lake by which you will pitch your tent for the evening (you may also want to pinch yourself at this point, but trust us, it’s real)

Tent pitched, campfire lit, yoga mats at the ready; enjoy a relaxed afternoon and campfire-cooked meal. As the blue skies are transformed by the colour-changing sunset, you’ll absorb yourself in the peace of your first yoga lesson by the glacial lake and know that you’ve truly arrived.

Day three: Climb Gjeravica Peak

7 hours hiking / 2 hours drive

Today’s trail will take you the ancient trade route that once connected Albania to Istanbul. This relatively short hike will lead you to the peak of Gjeravica (2656m) in just a couple of hours. Cameras at the ready as you gaze over Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo from a perspective some could only dream of. On this serene summit you’ll immerse yourself in nature and take time for a yoga session you’ll never forget.

Suitably energised you’ll descend Gjeravica and hike back to Junik village for a traditional lunch – ‘Flija’ will be on the menu on this occasion; savoury pastry filled with cream. After this, we will drive to Prishtina, the capital city of Kosovo. Tonight you will stay in a Hostel.

Prishtina and the surroundings

Enjoy some free time to explore the city with its’ many cafes, restaurants, fountains and statues – a re-introduction into typical city life after your tranquil escape.

The second half of the day (4 h) we will organize a culture trip for you, visiting Prishtina (monuments, mosques, churches, old bazar, and the old city of Ulpiana)

Drive back to the airport

35 min drive

In time for your flight, you’ll be taken to the airport for your forward journey home where you can re-live your adventure as you share the experience with your friends and family.
