Gërmia Park and Bear Sanctuary of Prishtina 

Gërmia is a regional park located northeast of Prishtina and has a total of 62km2. It is part of the mountain massif of the Rudope Mountains which stretch from the Black Mountains of Skopje to the Kopaonik Mountains. The highest point is Butovci, 1050m above sea level.

Two available trails: the turtle path for the ‘lazy’ of approximately 4 kilometers and the bear path for those with greater stamina with a total of 8.8 kilometers.

There was no law that regulated the protection and keeping of bears in Kosova for so many years, but now the “ Bear Sanctuary” shelters 15 rescued bears from Kosova and Albania, who are kept in spacious cages with decent management.

Itinerary

  • We start biking from Prishtina and continue through the villages Lukar, Grastice, and Mramor. The entire route is on the road … surrounded by mountains and old houses.
  • We will ride at a relaxed pace: 10-15 kilometers during the six-hour period. The trip allows you to really experience the region and its a unique atmosphere.
  • We will stop in Badovci lake city for coffee and then e continue back to Prishtina.
