Kosovo’s section of the Via Dinarica offers an exhilarating journey across some of the most rugged and unspoiled terrain in the Western Balkans. The trail offers a variety of experiences, ranging from gentle paths to challenging ascents, with sweeping valley views alpine lakes, and dramatic ridgelines.
As part of the larger transnational Via Dinarica route from Albania to Slovenia, Kosovo’s segment stands out for its diverse terrain, rich culture, and welcoming communities—perfect for hikers, bikers, and outdoor lovers seeking authentic adventure.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival at Prishtina Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to Peja, a charming mountain town at the edge of the Rugova Valley. Accommodation at hotel / hostel (with shared rooms and bathrooms). Meet for dinner and evening briefing about the journey ahead.

Day 2: Podi i Jakupit – Hajla Peak
After breakfast, drive (about 60 minutes) to the trailhead at Podi i Jakupit. Begin hiking toward Hajla Peak (2,403m), one of the most iconic peaks along the Kosovo-Montenegro border. Descend from peak to stay at Era Hut.
Trail: 12km | Elevation: 1,200m | 5–6 hours | Moderate

Day 3: Hajla – Boga
Hike through diverse terrains—wildflower meadows, hawthorn bushes, and pine forests. Pass by multiple Hajla peaks with panoramic views of Çfërla and Kopranik massifs. The trail finishes in the alpine village of Boga, known for its hospitality and stay at Rudi Alp House.

Day 4: Boga – Haxhaj
Hike the ridgeline that forms Kosovo’s border with Montenegro, offering some of the most scenic mountain views in the region. Trek through ancient pine forests, open pastures, and ridges with dramatic backdrops. Conclude the day at Shkambi A. Resort in the tranquil village of Haxhaj.

Day 5: Haxhaj – Kuqishte
Begin in forested terrain and transition into meadows with wild berries and views of Maja e Licit. Enjoy the peaceful, unspoiled landscape. The hike concludes near Kuqishte village. Accommodation options include traditional guesthouses near Liqenat Lake.

Day 6: Kuqishte – Milishec
Start the day with a gentle hike toward alpine lakes—Liqeni i Kuqishtës and Liqeni i Drelajve. Cross Qafa e Jelenkës with stunning views and descend to Zllonopojë. Stay at Lojza Guesthouse, known for mountain hospitality and homemade food.

Day 7: Milishec – Gacaferi
A diverse hike through Roshkodol valley and Bjeshka e Belegut. Enjoy water sources, scenic ridge-lines, and peaceful forests. End the day at the welcoming Gacaferi Guest House in Pllaqica e Junikut.
Trail: 18km | Elevation: 800m | Easy
Included: Breakfast, lunch pack, dinner, and accommodation.
Accommodation: Junik, Kosova.
Day 8: Gacaferi – Gropat
A rewarding final hike with two main ascents and sweeping views of alpine lakes and peaks like Gjeravica (2,656m). Experience the source of the Erenik River and a diverse ecosystem. Trail finishes in Gropa e Erenikut, followed by a drive to Prishtina.

Day 9: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Prishtina Airport for your flight home.
