In 2016, I began working on the Via Dinarica Kosovo as a project coordinator with the Federation of Mountaineering in Kosovo, marking my first major tourism project. Since then, the Via Dinarica has become a project very dear to me. I’ve witnessed its development over the years—at times, it has faced challenges, only to be revived through new donors and support.
In 2022, I had the opportunity to collaborate on writing a proposal with other organizations in a consortium, and fortunately, my nonprofit organization was awarded the project. After nearly three years of continuous work, I’m proud to say that the Via Dinarica Kosovo is now complete.
We have successfully marked the entire trail (with guidance from CAI Italy), developed the map and guidebook, and even worked with local children to raise awareness and promote this incredible project.
One of the most exciting aspects of the Via Dinarica Kosovo is that it offers a trail with stages so beautiful, each one showcasing magical landscapes. The trail takes you through a variety of terrains, from lush forests to rugged mountain ridgelines, and allows you to climb Kosovo’s highest peak, Gjeravica, a truly rewarding experience for any hiker. The beauty of the trail is not just in its natural landscapes but in its connection to the culture and history of the region. Each step on the trail reveals something unique and awe-inspiring.
A particularly great feature of the Via Dinarica Kosovo is that the trails are designed in a way that allows hikers to begin their journey right from the cities. This makes the trail easily accessible and perfect for those who may not have the time or resources to travel far into remote areas. Starting in the cities provides a great introduction to the cultural richness of Kosovo before diving into the stunning wilderness.
A few months ago, I had the chance to go on a photoshooting trip with Dini Begolli and Tuba Safciu. I can confidently say, from the depths of my heart, that this is an absolutely beautiful trail, now ready to be explored. During our trip, we spent several days revisiting the route, re-evaluating the trail markings, and capturing its beauty through photography—and it truly is breathtaking.
This year, I’m offering a few guided trips with different itineraries. Check out the tours for more details, and I look forward to sharing this amazing experience with you.
