Peaks of the Balkans

The transnational “Peaks of the Balkans” trail takes you through one of the most remote and wild mountain regions in the Western Balkans. Following ancient shepherd paths and winding footways, the trail climbs high into the alpine mountains, reaching altitudes of up to 2,300 meters above sea level. Along the way, you’ll be treated to a stunning array of landscapes—lush green valleys, crystal-clear mountain lakes, cascading waterfalls, and winding rivers. Secluded picturesque villages, where time seems to have stood still, add a timeless charm to this adventure.

This hidden gem is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers alike, offering a truly immersive experience in a region that has remained largely untouched. Just two decades ago, the area was nearly inaccessible to visitors, preserving its authenticity and cultural heritage. Hiking through the mountains of Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro is not just an adventure—it’s an authentic journey into the heart of the Balkans, where tradition, nature, and serenity harmonize.

The Peaks of the Balkans is truly a “hidden treasure,” perfect for those seeking both stunning natural beauty and a deep connection to the cultural soul of this remarkable region.
