Kosovo’s section of the Via Dinarica offers an exhilarating journey across some of the most rugged and unspoiled terrain in the Western Balkans. Stretching from the south to the northern border, the trail features everything from gentle paths to challenging ascents, with sweeping valley views and dramatic karst formations.

This 5-day Via Dinarica program is ideal for travelers who want a true mountain experience but have limited time. The itinerary offers a well-balanced mix of landscapes—starting near Peja, continuing through the Deçan and Junik region, and culminating with the ascent of Gjeravica, one of Kosovo’s highest and most iconic peaks.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival at Prishtina Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to Peja, a mountain town at the edge of the Rugova Valley. Accommodation at hotel / hostel (with shared rooms and bathrooms). Meet for dinner and evening briefing about the journey ahead.

Day 2: Kuqishte – Milishec
After breakfast, we will drive towards Kuqishte and start hiking from the village. The trail starts off as a gentle hike toward alpine lakes – Liqeni i Kuqishtës and Liqeni i Drelajve – and continues to the Qafa e Jelenkës mountain pass, offering stunning views. We will descend to the Village of Zllonopojë, and stay at a local guesthouse.

Day 3: Milishec – Gacaferi
A diverse hike through Roshkodol valley, along scenic ridgelines and surrounded by mountain peaks. End the day at Pllaqica e Junikut and stay at a local guesthouse.

Trail: 18km | Elevation: 800m | Easy
Included: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner, and accommodation.
Accommodation: Junik, Kosova.

Day 4: Gacaferi – Gropat
The last day of hiking offers big rewards with a climb to the summit of Gjeravica Peak (2,656m). The hike finishes in Gropa e Erenikut, followed by a drive to Prishtina.

Included: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner, and accommodation in Prishtina.
Accommodation: Prishtina, Kosova.

Day 5: Departure
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to Prishtina Airport for your flight home.
