Mission Statement
Our mission is simple: to keep your body moving, your mind open, and your heart full of awe.
Butterfly Outdoor Adventure was born in 2016 from a woman who knows what it means to be changed by the mountains. Uta Ibrahimi found her own metamorphosis on the world’s highest peaks—and came home to Kosovo determined to share that same sense of freedom, strength, and wonder with others.
Butterfly Outdoor is more than a company, it’s a community for those who crave wild places and raw experiences. It’s for people who want to reconnect with their land, uncover hidden beauty, and remember that nature is our shared home. Every trail we walk and summit we reach is a reminder: being outside is not a luxury – it’s a right, a calling, and a way back to ourselves.
Why choose us
Butterfly takes adventures to the Sharr and Accursed Mountains — a landscape of wild ridgelines, glittering alpine lakes, and warm local hospitality. Reviews from travelers describe the experience as “exactly what I had hoped for and more” and “one of the best trips I’ve ever taken.” With expert local guides, adventurers explore pristine trails, share laughter around hearty local meals, and rest in charming guesthouses that feel like home. Whether blanketed in summer wildflowers or dusted with autumn snow, Butterfly delivers a rare mix of stunning scenery, genuine cultural connection, and unforgettable camaraderie.
Flexibility is at the heart of what we do — from personalized routes to tailor-made trips with your friends or family. And for those who prefer quieter moments and smaller gatherings, we offer intimate adventures designed for reflection, connection, and peace. Our tours are designed to offer you the best of the Balkans – tailored trips developed from years exploring the mountains, developing trails and staying in villages. Take a look at what we have to offer but let us know if you’d like to design your own adventure and we’ll work together to create it.

Our guides know these mountains by heart — and love sharing them with others.

Over the following eight years, Uta undertook her monumental project “Utalaya 14×8000,” an ambitious campaign to climb all 14 of the world’s peaks above 8,000 meters—a challenge completed on 10 May 2025 with her successful ascent of Kangchenjunga, the third-highest mountain on Earth. With this achievement she became the first person from the Balkans and the first Albanian woman ever to complete the 14-eight-thousander challenge, joining an elite group of high-altitude mountaineers globally. Beyond her climbing feats, Uta is a committed advocate for environmental protection, gender equality, and youth empowerment. Through the Utalaya Foundation, she champions sustainable development goals, promotes outdoor engagement and leadership among young people—especially girls—and uses her platform to elevate Kosovo’s visibility on the world stage.

In the UIMLA program Metodi is also part of the instructor’s team, specialized in winter tours and avalanche safety. He spends most of his time exploring Sharr, in winter and summer and he likes to make the Sharr Mountains shine and bloom and increase their recognition.

Fluent in Macedonian, Turkish, Albanian, English, and German, Nadir divides his time between Tetovo and Basel. For him, mountaineering is not about conquering summits, but understanding them — and, in doing so, understanding oneself. Each climb is a reminder that the real peak is the one that transforms us along the way.
